My love of animals began by growing up surrounded by dogs, guinea pigs, a hedgehog and bearded dragons.
Starting at 15, I worked with dogs at a vet clinic boarding kennel in my hometown, throughout high school and college. I spent the summer of 2007 interning at Oschner Zoo in Baraboo, Wisconsin. In 2010, I received a BS in Wildlife Research and Management and a minor in Captive Wildlife at UW-Stevens Point.
In 2013, I turned my love of dogs into this business, and I would choose no other career. I look forward to getting to know every dog and pet parent I meet along the way.
Raised in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, I left for college to study photography and video. After a career of 34 years, the majority of that in Madison, Wisconsin as a photographer and video producer for the UW Medical School, I retired and moved to Minneapolis in 2018.
I've loved dogs all my life, beginning with my childhood dog, Rebel, a Shepherd mix, who loved his walks down to the shores of Lake Michigan as much as possible, and many years later, my own three dogs. I had my first dog sitting job when I was 10 years old.
In my free time, I enjoy biking, traveling and growing my personal photography portfolio. I couldn't ask for a better retirement gig, spending my days walking and sitting dogs for my daughter's dream business.
Born an animal lover, I found my first cat in a tree and spent my days chasing dogs around my family's farm. I regularly came home begging my parents for new animals, luckily often succeeding. I grew up with cats, dogs, mice and snails. Dogs were, and still are my favorite, though.
Now I am the adoring caretaker of two cats and help to raise crested geckos and praying mantises. I am so lucky to have been walking for Lakes Area Dogs for many years now. I love getting to meet and care for all kinds of dogs, and even koi one time.
Hi, I’m Kim. My husband and I split our time between Linden Hills and Western North Carolina. Lakes and Mountains, we enjoy them both! We have one son who is a senior in college. We’ve always been a dog family. My life started with a Collie and our most recent pup was a Retriever mix from Ragom, a fantastic rescue organization. Big dogs and rescue dogs are my favorites but walking with Lake Area Dogs has given me an appreciation for the small dogs with big attitude. (That’s you, Cooper!)
